Bobbie’s bright future

Bobbie’s bright future

Bobbie’s story begins in early 2024, when a consignment of horses was abandoned at a Kent holding yard when authorities discovered they were being smuggled out of the UK. Cramped together on a transporter to be exported, possibly from Ireland, through Britain and onto Europe, they were believed to be destined for slaughter.

Among the 26 vulnerable horses rescued that day, now known as the Dover 26, was a young colt called Bobbie. When he arrived into the care of our member charity, World Horse Welfare, he was a nervous, unhandled youngster. Boobie needed veterinary treatment, patience, time, and the expert care of the charity’s dedicated team of specialists and grooms.

With care and plenty of TLC, Bobbie slowly began to trust again, and now, more than a year on from that traumatic rescue, Bobbie is truly living the dream.

Rehomed by his new guardian, Kiri, Bobbie has settled beautifully into his new home. Kiri shared: “He is an absolute darling, and has certainly settled right into life alongside his companion Marley. He loves a morning play and run around in the field and never fails to put a smile on my face. Marley has been so much happier since Bob arrived—they definitely think they are brothers.”

From a cramped transporter bound for an uncertain fate, to a peaceful life filled with companionship, freedom and love – Bobbie’s transformation is nothing short of remarkable. His story is a testament to the lifesaving work of our member charities and to the kindness of supporters who make rescues like his possible.
