Horses second chance

Horses second chance

Four-year-old geldings Roddy and Tavish arrived into the care of Together for Animals member charity World Horse Welfare as yearling colts, along with 21 other horses who were seized as part of a prosecution under the Animal Welfare Act.

They had never seen the outside world before and were unhandled and underdeveloped with hoof and skin problems as well as high worm burdens. Roddy also had severe club feet which were successfully corrected with remedial trimming and physiotherapy exercises.

Thanks to the dedication and care of World Horse Welfare’s team, both ponies developed a huge love for human interaction through handling and training and last summer, the two piebald cobs headed to Blair Horse Trials with some of the charity’s grooms to meet visitors to the last ever international trials at Blair.

World Horse Welfare’s equine rescue and rehoming scheme is the largest of its kind in the UK, and the team’s visit helped to raise awareness of their work across their four farms.

Tavish has now been rehomed as a companion pony and Roddy is now ready to begin the next chapter in his life as he is available for rehoming as a youngster for further handling to continue with his education.

Thank you for your support and helping animals like Tavish and Roddy get a second chance at the life they deserve.
