Dover 26 horse welcomes healthy foal

Dover 26 horse welcomes healthy foal

In March we shared with you the story of 26 frightened horses and ponies rescued from being smuggled out of Dover port to an unknown fate. On their rescue the team at our member charity World Horse Welfare discovered that five of the mares in the group were pregnant.

The last of the quintet to give birth was a piebald mare who had no microchip – and therefore no identity – when she was rescued. After giving birth to a healthy filly foal, we named the mare ‘Ada’ after the founder of the charity, bestowing her surname ‘Cole’ onto the foal.

The name Cole means ‘victory of the people’ and we hope that Ada and Cole’s story will help to continue to raise awareness of the issue of horse smuggling as World Horse Welfare campaign to ensure the right measures are put in place to stop this cruel and illegal trade.

Ada and Cole are being cared for and rehabilitated at Hall Farm in Norfolk, along with the other horses and ponies that were rescued at the Kent port.

Thank you for your support and for animals across the UK who suffer in horrendous conditions, being transported to an unknown fate. Our voice is their only voice.
